NSPiSA, which is being developed by the SANAC Research Sector Committee as one of various activities sponsored under a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) to support South Africa’s National Strategic Plan (NSP), will provide a public information portal for stakeholders to access information on (a) published research on HIV and AIDS pertaining to South Africa, (b) current and ongoing South African research projects on HIV and AIDS, and (c) various other resources, such as information on Ethics Committees and copies of country NSPs.

Information on published and ongoing research will be classified according to the various goals, objectives and activities of the NSP and users will be able to browse and search database entries according to the aspects of the NSP. Registered users will be able to submit information on their published and ongoing research for inclusion in the online NSPiSA database. With this initiative, which we hope to launch in October 2009, we hope to help make the realization of the goals of our country’s NSP a reality.
